yMusic: Beautiful Mechanical: Indie classical, The New York Times’ #1 Classical Album of the Year! This young chamber sextet likes syncopation, crisp sounds, wandering melody lines, and shifting rhythms. FCC clean (all instrumental). Try 6, 3.
1) 7:39 Opening cello, with brass acting as background percussion and flitting, frantic strings.
2) 7:18 Subdued background deep strings, light flute, like a pastoral.
3) 3:05 A shorter piece, with a bit more obscure instrumentals. Less lyrical.
4) 8:46 A darker composition, one part loud and overwhelming, and one part smooth and emotional.
5) 2:09 Exotic drums, Spanish guitar, and woodwinds. Meandering and mysterious.
6) 10:16 Sounds like a skipping child, with a more steady rhythm that the others. The ending sounds like it could be the instrumental intro or ending to an indie/alt rock song.
7) 4:08 Sad and reflective horn, background guitar.
