Big Sur resident Strom with his second release. Flavors of Americana - country, alt-country. Dreamy, driving, dang good stuff. Some sounds of Neil Young, Uncle Tupelo, Old ’97’s, Jim White. Instrumentation of guitar, bass, drums, keys, harmonica. All songs worth a listen. FCC #9.
*My Favorites*: 1, 2, 6, 8.
1. *(4:12) Slow / Mid. Mellow acoustic with big gong and cymbals, piano. Female backing vocal. Dreamy and beautiful.
2. *(6:14) Slow / Mid. Harmonica a la Neil Young. Acoustic guitar, a bit Uncle Tupelo. Country or alt-country, easy-going song. Wow.
3. (4:09) Mid. Driving beat, slightly crunchy country guitar and feel.
4. (3:29) Mid. Sparse with vocal out front. Minimal percussion, picked acoustic guitar, with some backing vocals.
5. (2:48) Mid. INSTRUMENTAL. Solo acoustic guitar, with kids voices in the back.
6. *(3:37) Mid. Solo pounding piano intro, then vocal and band enter. Plodding, playful, dreamy ride. Backing spoken voices. Really sparse and cool.
7. (5:21) Mid. Heavy drumbeat, crunchy staccato guitar. Dreamy feel inside a slight rocker.
8. *(6:25) Slow / Mid. Really dreamy with keys, percussion. Echoey vocal.
9. (3:53) Slow / Mid. FCC. Countrified anthemic song with guitar, harmonica, drum, bass, backing vocals.
