LoGre - La Déchirure - Etchwear - 33 rpm
Anonymous duo, become multimedia “dark bass” project, with slasher aesthetic. In French with samples, and drum machine, combined for some more complex song structures. 1st full length, out on Norway vinyl. Rock, while B2 and B4 are more rap than rock, work from Neg Marrons comes to mind.
A
1 3:16 Title track, starting like something from Cluster. Some speaking, then rips and tears, high hat and a steady heart rate beat on snare, bass heavy, a great deal of movement and melody. Solid chords of dense little rhythm playing.
2 3:10 Spooky. Tool comes to mind, only much better. Very musical. Affected French, slithering syllables. Fiery doom pop rock. Droning ambience, and bass with efx.
3 2:35 Technical groove, electronica accoutrement. Depresso rock melody. Like urban styled electronica given a 90’s grunge, 45 disco slightly grind rock and goth out. Layered speaking.
4 3:48 More of a mystical melody, bringing to mind ethnic fusion rock. Cello, lengthening the notes of the melody. Piano, staccato spooky horror film touch, with lush groove. Wonderful low-end treatment overall with the bass, cello, and tinny treble adjoining melody on the kit and piano. Instrumental.
FCC 5 2:54 Scratch cue samples. Bohren und der Club of Gore comes to mind. Some spoken word. Two electronic sound instruments like glasses and crystals. Driven by the bass with ethereal touches pretty much spaced out and just keeping time. Fusionizes with dubstep like electronic enhancements. In another word, dark techno.
6 3:20 Frank Zappa style arrangement, or wonderfully lax American soft, emotional, technical, bass heavy rock. Upbeat, almost a shuffle of a beat is introduced. More indie than the rest. Instrumental.
B
1 3:31 Young vocalist speaking contribution. Mental journey melody and a hard part counter-piece. An additional melody with a circus type mania to it is added.
2 2:55 Aggressive spoken word. Hip-hop rock genre. Congas and a rhythmic mashup of hardcore and transnational near-east melody and rhythm, feeling the desert caravan vibe. With Skyz TomTom and the music video is set in a desert asylum, yikes! Note false ending.
3 3:00 Tetris musical quote. Pop hard rock, like the almost happy Russian variety. Classical ballet interlude.
4 3:14 A page out of Insane Clown Posse. One spoken sample. Two MCs. Sampled saxophone, a foil for cello, piano, and the high-hat.
5 2:31 Instrumental. Soundscape like a Metroid theme.
6 1:34 Instrumental. Beautiful twinkly and bassy, while filler, nice.
