Folk-rock and power-pop. Lowery started Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker. At his rawest, this guy sounds like some kind of Dylan/Barlow lovechild, which gives him pretty good sway in my book. Subtly goofy lyrics and big classic folk-rock arrangements with just enough modern feel. The late Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) helped out in some capacity. FCC clean, all tracks recommended but start with 5 or 1. —Andy

**1 - pretty harmonica-washed Dylan/Band folk-rock jaunt
2 - Lou Barlow monotone moody/dramatic indie-rock
*3 - slow and prettily twangy, with lots of slide guitar
*4 - melancholy jangle-pop, plenty of background vox
**5 - Sebadoh rock! Balls-out power-pop pining, with synth weirdness in the interludes
6 - slower fleshed-out folk waltz with a big old fiddle solo
7 - poppy, slightly mariachi opener; strum-pop travel song
8 - summery folk tune over orchestral modern pop arrangement
*9 - quiet start; simple swinging midtempo Spoon-flavored folk-rock
