The Philistines Jr.: If A Band Plays in the Woods…? There’s a solid, confident sound to this band, who don’t rely on fancy synths to create awesome, rockin’, thoughtful music. Fun sing-alongs, and interesting instrumentals. No FCC concerns. Try 4, 9, 8.
1) Suspenseful intro, transitions beautifully into an upbeat little number.
2) A short track, with solid guitar and backup vocals.
3) Baba O’Riley-ish mostly instrumental track.
4) Fancy fingerwork on the piano and good group vocal harmony.
5) Strumming guitar with piano filling in the bass.
6) Smooth, soothing instrumentals.
7) Nice glockenspiel to complement guitar on this relaxing track.
8) In a turn of events, vocals are background to instrumentals.
9) A doleful, reminiscing number.
10) The title track is a combo of crooning, melodic piano, and crashing cymbals.
11) This instrumental track prompts introspection.
12) Epic intro, ironically nonchalant for the rest of the song. Be warned: the last minute of the track is silence.
