Strummy, midly jazzy, tunes from a guy named Jose Gonzalez' (who oddly enough comes from Sweden but then there’s Abduls & Fatimas in Malmö, so there ya go). Vocally, it’s VERY inoffensive, middle of the road like a modern Paul Simon or Al Stewart.
Tho’ the instrumentation is pleasant albeit it fits for some otherwise “ok” scene in another friggin’ “quirky” Wes Anderson/Michael Cera movie about a “quirky” couple/family. Anyway, A-FILE WORTHY for the playing and for it NOT being super shitty or more “indie kack wallpaper”. Gets better after a few spins, too.
45 RPM – BOTH SIDES
SIDE ONE
(((1))) Mellow, jazzy intro ‘ala the Doors’ “Riders on the Storm”, acoustic guitar then picks up with medium strums/drums and a forward movin groove. Vocals should be less sleepy sounding. But OK, otherwise.
(((2))) Fast bass, more guitar strum, bland “Paul Simon on downers” vocals and generic chorus. Bass & drums keeps this from sinking into the shitpile.
SIDE TWO
(((1))) Slow, light & jazzy intro then picks up and get somewhat hazy & space. Not bad just not all that “alive”.
((((2)))) Better, faster, tighter arrangement and a tad catchier than before.
