Pixies frontman delivers a mixed bag of sentimental adult contemporary and nostalgic rock. Lots of strings on the former category, often to good effect; impressive guitar and displays of his signature vocal ability on the latter. Good stuff, but with the exception of 7, don't expect too much resemblance to the Pixies. My picks: 2, 7, 8, 11, 5; FCC clean –Andy

1 - Pared-down metal riffs and vocal stylings on the choruses
**2 - Rolling and thoughtful, with quiet effected drums, acoustic strumming, electric piano, strings
3 - Acoustic lullaby with strings, falsetto vocals
4 - Simple electric roots-rock number with great vocal growl
*5 - Grungier yet weirdly Springsteen-esque rock, shows a glimpse of Francis's awesome scream
*6 - Quick rock cruiser with cool electric piano
**7 - Channels some real Pixies energy; nervous, driving guitar-rock
*8 - Weird, loungey minor-key wanderer
9 - Strained anthem with acoustic guitar and strings; pretty fun contrast between the seriousness of the music and the oral sex refrain
10 - Piano ballad, complete with strings; another serious-sounding sex tune: if you saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, you'll appreciate the pleading "inside of you"
*11 - Light but touching power-pop; operatic soundtrack conclusion
