Attention U2, Coldplay and Oasis enthusiasts! The 4th studio album from Manchester-based indie rock band. Influenced by Kraftwerk and Vangelis' score to Blade Runner. Collaboration with Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, and reputable producer Dan Austin. Appearances on Jimmy Fallon / Carson Daly's shows. "Schizophrenic, but... also strangely cohesive." Rolling Stone gives it 3 of 5 stars. "the most daring album of Doves' career to date," "Previous albums never quite lived up to the band's facility for knockout singles, but this one holds the attention. There's a dreamy, addictive sadness to proceedings, their customary gruff melancholy now inflated to match the panoramic setting." Used to be a band "Sub Sub." FCC CLEAN Review by "Ranger" Rick Dickow 6/25/09 1.***Legitimate opener has nice progression from quiet to Rockin' 2.***1st single released. Intense melodies give this song a serious sound. Rockin' solo. 3.*** Booming :52 sec. intro. Fades at - 0:20. Rockin'. (3:28) = good radio track 4.**Single with standard rock format, verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus. Rocks. 5.**Starts dreamy, ends in softness, but Epic inbetween 6.**0:20 sec intro, catchy melody, a good track for radio, Instrumental out from - 0:16 7.**Bring in the strings! Violin/Cello, breathy/dreamy. short (3mins) 8.*** Good album track for continuity, bad for radio (length). Otherwise, catchy. 9.** Funky bassline gets breathy vocal.. U2'esque. 10. *Upbeat snare beat. A song about your past haunting you. Hard to hear that though. 11.* Drawn out wrap up of the album. Bad for radio. | ||
