Two words: Death Metal! More words: it’s heavy, still pretty much brutal and rather riffy. These guys while at times repeating themselves have improved leaps and bounds and they have the ability to write actual songs nowadays vs. the more murk & clangor they first did nearly 20 years ago. Vocally, George “Corpsegrinder” Fischer balances the clear while maintain the brutality of the genre. The bass & guitar work is solid throughout the album even when the songs themselves are not. Face it, it’s Cannibal Corpse, dood, you KNOW what you’re in for.
((((1)))) Straight riffy Death Metal with lots of good chord/tempo changes.
((((((2)))))) Fast, mind-drilling & headbangin’ aggro Death Metal that made Florida (in)famous. Killer bees swarm effect near the end, too.
((((3)))) Typical guttural Cannibal Corpse but still very heavy and strangely similar to their Floridian brethren, Deicide.
((((4)))) Extremely thick, chuggin guitar tone & audiable vocals, headbangin’ breakdowns
(((5))) Fast, explosive while also maintaining hints of melodic flair. Excessive pinch harmonics keep it from breaking through but otherwise fine.
(((((6))))) (FCC “shit” sung once) Blasting, hammering & weighted heavily on the low end. Plenty of interesting chord/time shifts without being obviously techy.
(((7))) More blasting, fast DM but bordering on the mechanical with this speed for the sake of speed tempo.
(((((8))))) Mid-pace, early 90’s feel with a oddly catchy verses and chorus. Very interesting riffage & chord structures and slight epic feeling.
(((((9))))) (FCC “Fucking” sung three times) REAL brutal Death Metal, speed, aggression & wailing guitars.
(((10))) Super thick, judding riff with a zig-zag structure and fairly technical structure. The fast parts again get too machine like, though.
((((11)))) Fast, often bare bones DM with some pretty interesting twists.
((((12)))) Build up with a LOT of bass, and some cool drum blasts.
