Pavement, Sonic Youth, softer side of Pixies: amalgam of lovely pop, indie rock and dissonant accessible musicality. Great guitar work, boy/girl trade-off vocals, noisey in the right places, quiet in others. Start of CD is stronger. In the pop realm bands like this should be at Coachella. And KZSU charting should have something to do with it.
1) mmm, a delicious beat, instrumental with some subtle Dream Syndicate type guitar 2) vocals enter
2) upbeat with boy/girl vocals, chills midway and lets off some steam, perfect indie rock/pop then builds again
3) Pavement delivery initially to this decidedly poppy song
4) pretty and just about as perfect jangly pop as it gets, a nice beat but not asskissing like REM or so many others that ruined this genre (I think he said “funkin’ around in the chorus but I like this stuff too much to split hairs)
5) indie rock, nice in its predictability yet uniqueness, spaciness and letting out a big “sigh” when the pomposity starts to raise its head
6) Sonic Youth simple pop
7) pleasant pop8) upbeat and pleasant pop again9) simple if boring pop with a surfy backbeat
10) upbeat with heavy parts but mostly strummy jangly pop
