Fans of Tortoise, Do Make Say Think and other “post-rock” instrumental bands that register high on the intellect scale that veer into the realm of shoegaze and space all while should take note. Drums, guitar, Fender Rhodes, bass, even a banjo (dulcimer?) and some synth to give it krautrock flavor in places. No vocals. Pretty stuff and sure to please. Lovely.
1) starts slow and blissful with lightly picked banjo drum brushes and washes of shoegaze
and breaks into a ¾-7/4 post rocky beat
2) faster urgent, still a disjunct rhythm, melodic and cool
3) urgent and upbeat
4) starts with acoustic guitar and Rhodes and just builds on that theme, sorta jammy
5) jammy again on a simple riff/lick
6) picked fast guitar arpeggios in layers with sparse piano, pretty and dreamy
7) starts off chill and shoegazing with piano and echoey guitar, picks up with full band
8) another 5/4 type mathy post-rock feeling rhythm that feels as natural as a 4/4 really, full band, good subtle chillness
9) a bit more indulgent or committal
10) upbeat and urgent with the 80’s high hat beat going on, goes in and out of breaks and is structural
11) bit of a krautrock feel in the synth and soaring guitars
12) krautrock feel is fleshed out here for sure, for fans of cool Moog with rhythms, chill feel though
