Brightback Morning Light
Motion to Rejoin
Sludgy, drugged-out, dark, and bluesy (think Funkadelic’s track “What Is Soul?” played at half speed). These guys play a super slowed-down haunting variety of psych-blues and achieve a sound that is pretty unique. Most of the tracks feature prominent Rhoads organ with distorted & reverbed vocals and have some faint backing gospel vocals…the album in general has more of a soul/gospel feel than previous work. Start with starred tracks.
FCC – None detected – the vocals are distorted enough to be pretty much unintelligible
1) Intro 40 sec track
** 2) Distorted sound, faint guitar picking and organs.. some backing gospel singers chime in towards the end
3) 8 min track with Filtered / revered out vocals & harmonica with some more gospel singers in the back
** 4) Not as dark as most of the other tracks, almost has a psych-soul feel to it.
5) More on the psych end of the spectrum
6) 10 Min Track – Includes some horn arrangement.
7) Instrumental - Atmospheric horns on top of repeating rhoads organ riff
8) More on the psych-soul end of the spectrum with backing gospel vocals
9) Instrumental with atmospheric guitar effects
-Rafe
