Stylish New Orleans jazz – by way of Chicago. Recorded in 1972, it features Hodes on piano (and vocal on #2) plus an a-list sextet with plenty of style and a “bunch of old-timers hanging out an playing the music they love” vibe. Not a dud in the bunch.

1. Short, but funny, spoken intro to #2.
2. Playful midtempo vocal track, brassy and silly.
3. Relaxed and slidin’ with a tight swing. So cool.
4. Jumpin’ upbeat march w/solid clarinet/bass/piano swinging.
5. Down & dirty brassy blues drag. Cracklin’ good.
6. Upbeat Crescent City brass jam. And a fine time was had by all.
7. Stompin’ upbeat brass parade w/energy for days. Yow!
8. Lowdown and laidback w/a sweet, gritty sound.
9. Instant speed w/a wacky-good, almost cartoony sound.
10. A “no energy on a hot night” kind of drag. So good.
11. A very hip mid/upbeat kinda boogie.
12. Starts relaxed, picks up. A classic w/a fun, tight arrangement.
13. Upbeat bounce w/extra good piano/clarinet/bass.
