Album Review

Solo trumpet pieces, sparse and a bit abstract, although Tinkler sticks to fairly conventional trumpet playing (it's not all squeaks and air through the horn). It's not quiet -- the playing is often fast and loud, and sometimes recalls some jazzy roots (2,7).

- Seems to be an overdubbed duet. Gets nice and chirpy.
- Upbeat and brash, not too fast. Nicely accessible, actually.
- Slow, with some kind of rustly metal percussion (maybe it's a cymbal)
- Fast, w/almost droney quality, as he tends to gravitate around one note at a time
- Trumpet played into a bowl of water. Liquidy blips that sometimes sound electronic
- Scratchy "Flight of the Bumblebee" runs, then slow echoey notes
- Straight jazzy playing, sitting at a drum kit: Bass drum thoomps and a snare getting rattled by the trumpet's sound. Gets more artsy later.
- With a piano, Tinkler thumping the pedals or rattling the strings, or playing into the piano box for an echoey resonance. Moody.
