Local (South Bay) goth post punk, with a sprinkling of psych & dub moods. Dark, sparse, expansive, & powerful... loud drums, huge bass, searing guitar & ominous, understated male vocals (i.e., all you need). High contrast--lots of soft/loud dynamics--done ever so tastefully. This band has the stratospheric hubris of aiming at Joy Division and Bauhaus... and in moments gets there. Really good stuff... enough for some chills. I'd guess that John Peel would've dug this trio. Members come from 187 Calm, S.L.A, and Tornado Thriller. Play with Joy Division, Head Of David, Bauhaus, Archie Bronson Outfit, Gravenhurst, The Doors, Lungfish, Loop. FCC clean. Every song kills but start with 2, 3, 5.
1. Driving & dark. Searing guitar, sometimes backwards tracked. Song fades in slowly, then loud drums. Fades.
==> 2. Slow, dark, & heavy, like the ominous side of Joy Division. Killer wah-wah/fuzz guitar break about 2/3 through. Starts with quiet, wailing feedback guitar. Fades.
==> 3. Psychedelic goth dub. Quiet/loud. Starts with some slow guitar strums. Very loud at end, then feedback wail, then fade.
4. Rolling psych goth. Joy Division intersected with The Doors. Starts with full band. Power chord, then fade.
==> 5. Loud and intense, hoarsely screamed/whispered vocals. Reminiscent of Head Of David. Starts with trashed-out loud guitar and forced whisper vocals. Ends with cymbal crash.
6. Slow & dark, like Bauhaus & somehow a bit like Gravenhurst. Starts with slow, reverby guitar. Fades with guitar & bass.
7. Heavy, slow, & beautiful. Very Bauhaus & Gravenhurst but with Jim Morrison vocal inflections. Starts with slow guitar arpeggio. Slow fade.
