Debut album from a local Latin jazz vocalist. She has a warm, just slightly husky voice that lends itself well to stylishly sophisticated tracks. Ably backed by a small band that are, wisely, given time to shine on their own. Swaying, grown-up music, not party-ish, but perfect for dinner parties or just relaxing. Really good stuff.
*1. Dishy, relaxed midtempo samba classic that gets a hip hop update.
*2. Bright & happy w/a catchy sound & great work from the band.
3. Starts slow, picks up at 1:30. Romantic cha cha in English/Spanish
4. Slow, lush, romantic flamenco-ish w/a tragic feel. Sigh….
*5. Nicely brassy love-gone-wrong salsa track. Upbeat, swinging.
6. Swinging, worldly version of Ellington classic. Very cool.
7. Downtempo love song w/delicate vocals/good work from band.
*8. Swaying jazz samba w/nice flourishes from band.
9. Middle eastern influenced, mid/upbeat w/cool percussion.
10. Gentle, relaxed and romantic. Delicate vox, sweet melody.
