Peter Brötzmann Group - Alarm

Large group put together by Brotzmann with an impressive cast of European improvisers. Tracks 1 & 2 are parts of one long free improv piece, an interpretation of the reaction to a nulcear attack (ironically, the concert had to be stopped midway through due to a bomb scare). This isn't a solid wall of sound as some of Brotzmann's later 80s stuff, there's a nice variety of dynamic range. Excellent stuff.

**1. Big group fanfare, alternating free jumble and unison air-raid siren sounds.
*2. Starts quiet but builds quickly to a wild and free group improv. Quiets down in the middle, then at about -5:00 it changes to a cool sax chorale
**3. Bluesy unexpectedly straight Mingusian swing, fades out (sadly)
