Opera? No. Riff-heavy, kinda tech-y death metal – yesss! These French guys know how to lay down the brutality while keeping their songs interesting. Vocals are real low but not to the point of total incomprehension. Both guitarists mix current age DM riffs and 80s styled solos with ease.
((1)) Yer standard intro disguised as some movie sample.
((((2)))) Charging, pummeling big sounding DM, solid amount of varations.
((((3)))) Tearing & twisting then encircling riffs. Amazing use of time changes.
((((4)))) Classy, classic metal sound into mid-paced DM battering.
(((5))) Acoustic guitar interlude. Pretty nice but short.
(((((6))))) Starts with a nice guttural “Eerrhuuuurrhhggh!” then fucks you up good with utlra-brutal speedy D.M.
(((7)))) Riffs that build and build and build but get a little stagnant. The fast parts are still interesting, though.
(((((8))))) Real speedy with incredible guitar/drum interplay and some nice dual leads.
(((((9))))) Tricky as fuck tech-metal with 3 guitars (this one with guest Andy LaRouque from King Diamond)
(((10))) Another acoustic interlude.
((((11)))) Rip-roaring death metal that plays off the melodic parts vs. the brutal parts well. Much more interesting in the 2nd half.
((((12)))) Jagged riff & beat with thrashing death & mid-paced parts that stand out.
(((13))) Great playing but some of this is pretty cheesy like most “progessive metal” or “melo-death”.
