Your Imaginary Friend Reviewed 2005-11-04 | ||
Somewhere in the realm of early Numbers, Dance Disaster Movement, this is creative electro-rock with an excellent sense of beat/rhythm. Thank god “electroclash” came and went and bands are free to use noisey synth, disjunct rhythms, desperate strange vocals and dissonant guitars again. Super cool stuff, “bopping electro go-go”. 1) upbeat driving, cool synth tone 2) less driving beat, Moog tones a la early Numbers 3) super cool noisey synth starts this one and permeates this noisy mid paced piece that waits a couple minutes before vocals appear, dark and sinister 4) simple feel, melodic electro rock with a basic riff, epic feel 5) almost mellow, dissonant guitar bursts over slow synth lines and kalima’esque tribal percussion 6) video game sounds at front then an irrepressible beat and strong bass takes this hot mofo away 7) brief noisey prequel to followin 8) cool constant head nodder, instrumental 9) danceable electrorocker, sure to get the crowd sweaty 10) cool beat that reminds me of later Gang of Four somehow, 80’s flare, lots of cool sounds 11) slow, with a Casio beatbox thing, brief afterthought |
