Spoils Of War, The - II
Late sixties art rock. Male, female vox. Varied instruments. Poor recording quality. Long bluesy organ jam tracks, art folk arrangements, and songs that would fit in a musical. Long on complexity and experimentation; tragically, comically short on talent and execution. Contains nearly every psych rock figure of speech...performed horribly. Hindsight is wonderfully cruel.
***1. Organ. Rallying horns, female vox. scooby-doo camp. starts and stops to clunky effect.
*2.funky, fem vox, wah-wah, recalls Supersession.
**3.quiet strings. cheesy sung poetry
4. slow harpsichord, classical motif.
5. whimsical spoken/sung cheesy poetry
*6. female vox. awkward loping beat
7. sounds like a musical.
8. jazzy beat. bad clarinet. musical material.
9. subdued easy listening. a break-up song.
10. straight out of a musical
*11. acoustic. folk. fake Garfunkel.
*12. childlike. balalaika. very short.
13-16. campy organ and guitar jams. 15 is bluesy and in 3/4. 16 has jazz sax.
***17. long quiet funeral march intro. nice samples superimposed. morphs into psych rock.
