ANAMUDE • PENTIMENTO (keep recordings)
Anamude creates music unlike anyone else. It’s a blend on John Fahey esque acoustic guitar work and beautifully quirky, & sometimes drony vocal melodies. Anamude’s songs seem more like paitings than songs, small strokes of sound and syncopated guitar rhythm work build and change like colors and texture on a canvas. This record was beautifully recorded by Adam Selzer (Type foundry studio) and arraged with sounds of bottles rolling, electronics, strings and various experimental percussion sounds. Based in a folk tradition this record crosses that line and lands somewhere closer to Gastr Del Sol than to Joni Mitchell. This is a great record and should be played vigorously -tHE bAWD oF eUPHONy
*** (4:08) Beautiful moody guitar work in Ana’s odd style that stands alone. Builds in pace as cool cymbol swells circle around the sound of a bottle rolling on the floor. Very cool
** (2:09) awesome array of natural percussion sounds along with an electric pulse. Robotic vocals drone throughout with a consistant bell tone. Might be an opitgon. COOL!
** (3:50) Slower acoustic guitar and gentle beat pulse. Great sea song. Cool bass work builds with the song. Vocal chorus’s lead into a larger verse.
*** (2:05) Slow swing, Nastalgic feel. Great guitar line. Keyboards add texture.
*** (4:40) One of my favorites. Mid - tempo with cool groove and rad guitar line. Makes me think of Modest Mouse for some reason. Cool changes. Pretty Rad
*** (4:28) Another great one. Brooding moody, quiet groove kept my brushed snare and Ana’s guitar line. Think Gastr Del Sol on this one.
** (2:35) Room miced sound. Slow and bendy with vox. Simple and beautiful
*** (1:31) quick guitar line fades in and turns into a one woman folk prog-rock song. Cool
** (2:23) Sweet melody and guitar playing. Sweet number
* (0:57) Quick melatron and guitar ditty. Beatles?
** (2:55) Waltzy number, with cool dual vocals and string arrangements. Beautiful
*** (2:43) Beautiful string arrangements and droney guitar work with rumbling Timpany sounds.
(1:51) Rain sounds with sweet guitar playing and singing. Nice
