Joelle Leandre / India Cooke – Firedance

Live recording of this seasoned duo of improvisers on bass and violin. There’s a broad range of styles and moods on this disc, from abstract scraping to powerfully intense improv, but what really makes this disc stand out is the unabashed joy that infects their playing. A highly recommended album.

1. 1 min of tuning/applause to start, then swirling improv
**2. Clattery exotic groove to start with vocals, then builds to frenzy
*3. Bass solo to start followed by a powerful duet
**4. Pretty interplay, almost eastern sounding
5. 1 min tap dancing intro, then intense violin solo
*6. Skittery start, builds to solid wall of sound, 1 min applause at end
*7. Thick swirls of sound
