Cool and beautiful music played by master musicians. Great stuff. It's the Classic ECM material, played by piano, sax, bass (lots of bow) and drums. Geri Allen on the piano sounds very Keith Jarrett. Charles Lloyd, a jazz veteran who actually "discovered" Keith Jarrett, goes with his sax between the Keith Jarrett style and John Coltrane. All tracks are really good. Some (see below) are even better.
*1. A long, beautiful, relaxed version of 'Ne me quitte pa'.
2. Begins with cool Sax and drums.
*3. Clouds are gathering.. Vibes of Coltrane's 'Afro-blue impressions'.
*4. Cool drums, played by Eric Harland, give a nice backbone to sax impros.
5. Clean mid-tempo Sax bass and drums turn into a fast, fatter, piano bass and drums, and back.
6. The Sufi's tears. Oriental sax, bow-playing on the bass.
**7. A long cool piece. Starts mid-tempo and grows faster. Really good impros.
**8. Sentimental ethereal music. So beautiful (I guess that in the wrong mood it might sound a bit mushy). Some nice bass touches 3:30 minutes into the track.
9. Sax and basic percussion.
10. "Freer" impros.
