A jazz outing from a member of Sandbox Trio. Fairly easygoing stuff with nicely complex, creative writing. The band is led by Panasenko on guitar and features two saxophones.
Accessible overall, despite its avant-jazz leanings. You could almost see this band playing in a dinner club, although the songs are a bit more cerebral than that.
Note that the last 4 tracks are retakes of the first six.
1- Sweeping landscape, mid/slow and a bit new agey
2,7- Cool feel, mid/fast but calm. Brightens up later. Track #2 has the fancier guitar work of the two
3- Upbeat burbling
4- Wacky guitar-synth soloing over a lightly groovin' beat. Cartooney theme.
5- Cool shuffling bass, into perky theme for 2nd half
6,10- Slow-motion horn blares topped by (eventually) fast chaotic soloing
8,9- Mid/fast bass walk and wacky soloing. Fun stuff.
