This some gorgeous, trippy Arabic & Egyptian acoustic music. His main band, Nile has used types of sounds before but they are a death metal band and this is a straight-ahead ethno-acoustic music (with the occasional electric guitar solo). Very film soundtrack like. Copious notes provided on the theme & making of each song. Excellent all around!
((((1)))) Mid-paced with a mix of mystical/occultish feeling and Middle Eastern percussion and guitar scales.
(((((2))))) $10 says he likes Dead Can Dance albums. Total Brendan Perry vocalisms, slow, choral, etheral with a nice solo.
(((((3))))) Great guitar tone & skills, bombastic beats, slowly slithering.
((((4)))) Trippy, space ambient with sea kelp drink spilled on the tape mixed with reverb = eerie stuff.
((((5)))) Twisting Hendrix’s “Voodoo Chile” into a tribal ritual of bizarre voices, saz riffs, and Egyptian percussion.
(((((6))))) Gyoto monk like chanting, spacey ambience, more slow-mo Arabic scales. Beautiful & hypnotic stuff.
((((7)))) Detuned strings, lots of echoed notes, loud patient strumming. Massive resonation.
(((((8)))))) Gorgeous guitar playing -lots of tonalities-from metal album interludes to psychedelic to ambient to world music. Wow!
(((((9))))) Deep ambience, metal guitar notes, Morbid Angel’s David VIncent dramatically reading Madame Blavatsky’s “The Secret Doctorine”. Nice!
((((10)))) Early Tangerine Dream playing with electronic ping pong balls while Sanders wails out a killer solo.
