Converge have transformed into a very strange beast. Thankfully they’ve cast off their earlier “Reign In Blood” worship. Such casting off has placed them closer to the orbits of Neurosis, Jesus Lizard and Zeni Geva. This my friends, is good company.
(((1))) Droney intro thingy.
(((((2)))) Messed up, Jesus Lizard by way of the Converge-related Old Man Gloom.
((((3)))) Rrrr-roaring, foaming-at-the mouth mid-paced hardcore with crazy changes.
(((((4))))) Fast & furious, lots of amazing drumming, stop/starts.
(((5))) More scorching pace but this time more like the dog chasing it’s tail.
(((6))) Basic H.C. formula and “gargling on glass” vocals.
((((((7)))))) Incredible, doomed heavy ‘core ‘ala Neurosis, Unsane, Today Is The Day.
(((8))) Slow, acoustic, broken down, psych. ballad.
(((((9))))) Arrrrrrgh! Distorted as hell vocals, vicious drumming & guitars. Total audial catharisis within 2 min 10 sec.
((((10)))) Powerful riffing, snarling vocals but tons of shifting tones & paces.
((((11)))) Another “total heavy sound” experience charging at various speeds.
((((((12))))) Barrage of drums then u-turns to twisted strummy, indie rock from hell.
