Your Imaginary Friend Reviewed 2004-10-13 | ||
Insane noisily treated disjunct blippy beats, samples, mash-ups. Brilliant. The label describes this as “an abortion resulting from an affair between Throbbing Gristle and Aphex Twin with a pet Skinny Puppy”. Aptly put. Not for the faint of heart, this as easily fits in between a noise/metal set as an rpm/electronic one. Not that theres anything metal about this, its just the intensity borders on making one grab for the door handle and bailing the car at 65 mph. This is the shit. 1) disjunct, blippy, cool, if not midpaced and alluding to whats to come 2) kick as beat, funky, FCC “pussy is wet” 3) FCCs 4) blippy beats, sci fi electromash 5) treated Forro accordian w/ smashed up samples and beats, insanity predominates 6) halting blippy/breakbeatish, relatively chill 7) FCCs!! No!! 8) slow start, builds, sound-beat collage 9) sparser, smatterings of tnes, blips, ambience 10) weird, FCCs 11) rather heavy beat, slow, not blippy, rather scary feel overall 12) FCCs 13) brief tone wash 14) plink plink childlike toy piano feel, creepy 15) Spanish singing treated samples, dense collage, overall not too noisey, just weird- ends after ~2:30 and is followed by ~30 sec of dead air then by ~30 of a “the end” mash up piece |
