Free improv led by sax -- abstract noisy stuff recorded at Baltimore's High Zero festival (an annual DIY gathering of improv). Jack Wright is a Colorado musician who's well respected among improv players.
Wright crafts a language of saxophone squeaks and pops, abstract stuff that ranges from peaceful to vicious. He's particularly good at fast, fluttery runs that have a pillowy softness to them.
Each track has a different set of players.
1- Metallic and slowly severe, often colored by various synthy noisemakers. Second half quiet and more "organic"
2- Ethereal and slow, like a large, powerful machine. Lots of electronics groans from guitar and home-made instrument
3*- Fairly high energy (slow start). Trio w/a drummer and another sax, and Wright doing some piano.
4- Slow, expansive piece with tuba. Last few minutes include a quiet duet w/Wright mimicking the high squeaks of electric guitar, kinda cool.
5*- Loud and screechy, w/Wright highlighted in the slower 2nd half
6*- Gentle
