RADIO ZUMBIDO, Los Ultimos Dias Del AM
Palm Pictures, 2002
LATIN GUERILLA ELECTRONICA
Groovy album.
A lot of AM radio, jazz and rock instruments samples, it all sounds very organic although it was obviously recorded with synthesizers.
Latin feel, but of the guerilla/Che Guevarra kind (see sleeve).
This could be called a new breed of music: south american guerilla techno. ;-)
Tintin's picks: 2, 5(great), 7, 9
01 - 01:36 - Slow Intro, sampled south american instruments with a latin beat loop
02 - 04:22 - Mid-speed to fast latin beat Loop, augmented to a full-fledged techno beat after 2:00 minutes, minimalistic guitar loops, siren sounds
03 - 05:26 - mid-speed beat, Howie B-like, feels like travelling in the train in south america, sampled human chorus, Chu-chu sounds
04 - 00:55 - Segway with acoustic guitar samples and AM radio, a little melancholic
05 - 04:45 - Oh yeah ;-), this tune is absolutely mesmerizing. Starts slow, then a humming reverse echoed beat takes over and it evolves into full fledged techno. Great!
06 - 04:19 - Funny kids samples, fast organic beat, jazz and rock instruments samples
07 - 04:39 - mid-tempo latin beat, sampled latin wind instruments and singing, cool beat evolution
08 - 01:22 - beatless hypnotic tune with guitar synthesizer loops, synthetic bass and hi-hat
09 - 04:44 - Bass mid-speed beat, jazzy clarinet chorus, gets techno after 0:30, minimalistic.
10 - 05:13 - Dirty, Heavy fast beat with sampled guitar, sampled wind instruments and reversed sounds for chorus. A little chaotic.
11 - 01:06 - midtempo segway, sounds like a summary of the whole album.
