Big band, like the title says. "Normal" jazz, closer to bebop than to old-time big bands -- i.e. songs have a few long solos rather than lots of short ones. Songs are bouncy and swingy overall.

ECM tends to go for new-agey atmosphere on its records, but this one’s alive, buzzing, pumped. Clean and conservative in its sound, but plenty of fun.

1*- Midtempo, rolling and upbeat, sunny
2- Slow, w/cute retro sound that gets loud later. Cool splashy vibes
3*- Fast, loud, rollicking
4*- Bouncing, midtempo piece with infections chugging beats. Kind of soul jazzy in some places, lots of vibes in others. Starts slow - give it a chance!
5- Fairly fast and loud
6- Slow, relaxing but w/grand horns; fast fluid solos
7*- Another bouncy mid-fast number, esp. the last 5 minutes. Starts with bass solo (quiet, wispy) and accelerates
