A trio of very different “works” ranging from happy straight jazz (#3) to abstact experimental (#1). There’s a jazz element throughout -- #1 includes Roscoe Mitchell of the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Very interesting stuff; track 3 in particular is a multiphased composition that’s well worth the time.
And yes, the title is "Lines and Spa ces," with a space between the "a" and "c".
1- Sparse, quiet, mystical. Duet w/ Roscoe Mitchell.
2- Composed duet of bass & various reeds. Starts very quiet but develops a jazz-jamming kind of sound.
3- Dark tumbling creepiness, yes! At around -17:00, brightens into perky jazz passage including some straight bebop! Quiets down around -9:30.
