Hip-Hop, Funk, Jazz, and Breakbeats from 7" Singles. This collection contains a side from most of the first several 45s put out by Peanut Butter Wolf's Stones Throw label. As Wolf says in the liner notes, the 7" series was sort of a hobby of the label, so the tracks on here are a bit a departure from the straight up hip-hop you would expect from Stones Throw. Here you see them branching out beyond, particularly into the ultra-rare funk dug up by Egon. I recommend just about everything on here and I encourage everyone, not just hip-hop kids to explore this record.

I think that the price is due to rarity, desirability as a source for drum samples, and the fact that Stark Reality Discovers Hoagy Carmichael's Music Shop is one of the weirdest, most drugged out psychedelic children's records ever made. Another controversial Stone's Throw reissue.
