|Riasni Drova / Рясні Дрова|
Excellent Ukrainian acoustic drone-noise, released to fundraise for a Mariupol-based leftist artist collective called Freefilmers. Riasni Drova are a duo based in Lviv. (The album name is "Riasni Drova" in the Ukranian alphabet, and both band and album name translate as "abundant firewood.") Very slow and dissonant acoustic guitars, eerie vocals, some wild feedback-like sounds that might also be acoustic. Bracing and great. RIYL Derek Bailey, Bill Orcutt, Loren Connors's noisiest work, Ignatz, Ulaan Passerine. Favorite: 1. No FCCs.|
1. *(11:24)—Song title transliterated as "Pobratavsya sokil" (translates as "The Falcon Fraternized"), a rendition of a traditional song. Slow minor-key fingerpicking on acoustic guitar, dissonant, playing with extended technique. Bowed stringed instruments, drone. Intense high-pitched screeching, verging on unplugged harsh noise.
2. (12:12)—Song title transliterated as "Sered mistsevykh -cherkas- voyevody vidznachaly -sumlenye." Slow, warped fingerpicking. Rustling background noise turns into screeching. More bowed strings, heads into Morton Feldman territory at points.
