Mak Grgić, a rising star guitarist, performs theme music from popular movies, including The Godfather, Chariots of Fire, The Deer Hunter, and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. The composers range from JS Bach to Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Grandos, and Leonard Bernstein to well known movie score composers such as Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. Absolutely gorgeous music, brilliantly performed. Play any or all of this CD and your listeners will be thrilled. Godfather’s Waltz, however, is morbidly sad, and Volverino, only a little less so. Albinoni’s Adagio in G minor, while melancholy, is elegaic. The Cavatina and the Air on the G String are both contemplative. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly has saucy appeal. Grgić utilizes a number of different guitars, each suited to the music played, as he describes in the liner notes. Grgić has won numerous awards in major guitar competitions, and played recitals, chamber music, and concertos throughout the US and Europe. A CD to savor.
