Album Review

Interesting UK solo artist sounding mix of instruments, no ringing cymbals in the percussion, chill but fuzzy, acoustic sources using digital synthesis. Very reminiscent of Green World/Here Come the Warm Jets era Brian Eno, the vocals are a dead ringer and use of fuzz sustain notes really give a nod. No doubt it’s a tired comparison to him but impossible to deny. Basically, this sounds like Eno in that era, which is actually a very high compliment and good reason to play. “The album title, taken from Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, refers to the underground opposition of the dystopian novel’s totalitarian government ideology” (Thrill Jockey).

1) (7:22) chill idm downtempo feel with percussion and atmospherics, heavy fuzzy bass 2)* (9:06) pensive almost industrial dark feel, elements of noise, but still rhythmic and pulsing, cool gated reverb 3) (5:48) a bit more tribal, cool vocal echo effects, long sustain notes 4)* (7:07) cool intro tape effect sounds like a guitar/bass being tuned up from completely loosened strings, a pleasant feel and overall goodness 5) (10:25) chill and dreamy overall
