Local SF band: Dissonant duel guitar driven dark rock that has elements of post-rock (complex meters, fancy tunings and chords, precisely played drums) that serves as a soundbed to spoken word poems, themes of darkness, dysfunction. This recipe is tough to pull off well without relying on humor (see: Anne Magnusun, King Missile). But these guys have mastered it in their bumpy 15 year existence (losing a phenomenal drummer to mental illness along the way). Duel guitars and drums have subtle synth embellishments here, there. This band has a long-storied resume that includes Swans, Nice Strong Arm (other 80’s Homestead bands), Toiling Midgets, Tarnation, Shit and Shine.
