DJ Postnatal Reviewed 2018-06-30 | ||
Electronic punky dance-rock superstars The Faint bring forth their best-of album here, plus two bonus tracks. Get ready to dance and scream the night away to their dystopian lyrics as the world burns. Recommended Tracks: this is a best-of, so seriously, play anything. 1-4 stars indicate my personal preferences RIYL Electric Six, Bright Eyes, My Bloody Valentine FCCs on tracks 8, 13 1. (2:56) Anxious dance floor groove ** 2. (4:15) Punky electric guitar paranoia ** 3. (3:59) Operatic organ, urgent guitar, screams *** 4. (3:39) Devo-esque foot tapper with tubular synths *** 5. (3:41) Haunting lyrics with jammin guitars *** 6. (4:42) Orientalized strings, energetic guitars, vocoded lyrics **** 7. (3:07) Sparse bleep-bloops with a beat, spoken-ish word, violins * 8. FCC! "tits" (2:41) Guitar rock-punker with keyboards all about sexxxy stripping * 9. (3:08) Chanting on the downbeat ominous rocker ** 10. (4:07) Bassy, clappy ode to ego death culminating in plucked piano ** 11. (4:08) Slower clap with thick synth urging medical attention *** 12. (2:54) The classic foretelling the takeover of technology. Robust drums, thoughtful lyrics **** 13. FCC! "shit," "fuck" (2:25) Bassy short punker * 14. (4:29) Swirling synths and muddled beat that'd sound like a summer anthem if not for the lyrics ** 15. (2:28) Synth like off-kilter dialed numbers with urgent drums ** 16. (3:32) Acoustic ode to travel with ladies on backup vocals ** 17. (4:56) The new single. Electric flute toots, modulated vocals, amazing bassline **** 18. (3:46) Bonus track 1. Spaceman video game war feel reminiscing about our first ill-fated US space station. Off-kilter deep synth, strong drums ** 19. (4:41) Bonus track 2. Wobbling synths, drumpad, wishing for an out-of-body connection **** |
