Sónica is an EP by the Merida, Mexico’s psych-noise rock band Los Kowalski. Solid collection of tripped out ambient noise compositions in the current international psych rock style, full of guitar effects, layers of feedback, and dub vocals hidden in the mix. The title track that gives name to the album is a beautiful sonic assault produced by no other than The Obsolete of Lorelle Meets The Obsolete.

RIYL: Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, A Place To Bury Strangers, Has A Shadow, Ringo Deathstarr, & Slowdive.

Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 3, 4

1. (4:24) **** Sónica – Enthralling frenetic tempo recording driven by distorted guitars and vocals. Aural haze forever.
2. (2:07) * ES3 – Pedal effects and up beat drum beat in repeat circulating the block. My Bloody Valentine would be proud.
3. (6:34) ** Ungern – Drums buried in the mix, layers of amp/pedal distortion hovering a distance in a loop. By minute 3:39 the piece mutates into a drum less ambient track driven by a guitar riff in reverb.
4. (8:31) * Lejos – Ambient piece a la Brian Eno. Delicate.
