Album Review

Masterful guitar. Dobro slide abstract psych blues mixed with big guitar twang. Brings to mind later twangy dark works by Earth. John Fahey meets Ry Cooder, Evan Caminetti (Barn Owl). For fans of the soundtrack to Paris Texas. Really grew on me. Songs brief, almost just "idea-lets". Many songs very brief, serve as intros or outros. Great stuff. - This is soundtrack music for two films, one a “dark and existential comedy” (tracks 1-14) and the other a documentary “Inside the Ku Klux Klan” (tracks 15-32).

1)* (0:40) minimal intro to next, play together 2)* (2:38) dobro slide w cool dark plod, familiar melody 3) (0:34) slide guitar intro to next. 4) (2:02) cool ebow/synth tones, melodies intro a rather doomy 5) (0:58) creepy near industrial rumble ends cold 6) (1:22) simple dobro then shoegazy slide/feedback 7) FCCs 8) (1:41) more dobro w big guitar tones 9) (1:13) starts slow but speeds up to a fast triplet waltz 10) (1:42) straight pleasant guitar playing mostly 11) (0:25) dark slide. 12) (1:08) revisits that initial melody from track 2 in a slow dark vibrato plod 13) (0:33) slide. 14) * (2:47) a "song", blues gospel with simple front porch percussion, upbeat. 15)* (0:55) dark treated guitar, noisey doom. 16) (2:06) simple beat, another "song" , bluesy no lyrics 17) (1:06) simple electric. 18) (2:00) simple ride cymbal airy beat w upright bass 19) (1:06) electric w more simple drums, brushed snare, fades into next 20) (0:20) brief. 21)* (2:47) slow plod clangy percussion but subtle, blues slide, chill vocals 22) (1:28) big plodding blues w drums 23) (1:47) super cool big guitar dark twang w Tom Tom drums and light ride 24) (0:25) heavy slides end cold 25) (0:45) electric 26)* (3:43) total shoegaze tones at first, vocs too 27) (0:37) tones, blend into next 28) (2:06) lots of ebow sustain w simple plodding picked melody 29)* (1:27) electric mixed w dobro. 30) (0:28) brief more 31)* (2:06) super cool beat and twang, killer 32) (0:25) simple guitar.
