Hailing from Los Angeles, Band Aparte is a duo whose forte is barebones gravepunk music. The duo is made up of Brian Mendoza and Tara Jane. This album maintains a macabre, spooky undertone, and stays true to their goth-punk sound, while still making every song unique and non-uniform. Mendoza’s voice is low and seductive, as if he’s seducing and luring you to your death, but you’re happy to follow. Like: Nick Cave, Morrissey, The Cure. Recommended: 2, 3, 5, 9, 11 FCC on: 4 1.Down the Road (Introduction) (2:13) long intro dark keyboards sad vocals 2.Creatures of Culture has (2:16) Up beat surfy guitars with postpunk beat. 3.Dream Wave (3:56) Mid tempo nice guitar intro, dreamy dark and beautiful. 4.Into The Window (3:23) Classic 90s mid tempo post punk. 5.Cherry Chapstick (4:31) Mid tempo like The Cure kind of song. 6.Never Antoinette (4:28) Spoken word intro, slow tempo dark love song. 7.Band Aparte (2:53) Strong guitars nice melody post punk classic vibe. 8.Plastic Face (2:16) Happy and dark punk rock. 9.Welcome In (4:39) Nice intro to open up more 'the cure' postpunky feeling. 10.Get The Gun (3:36) Mid tempo, good keys melody.
