Five talented young Scandinavian musicians punch up the old acoustic sub-genres so they sound almost electric; “Fryd” means “joy;” if purely instrumental music can have a sense of humor, this music has it. Very danceable.

No FCC's (all instrumental); Favorite tracks: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11

1 – Lompa Koyre Traktor – 4:35 – fiddle and guitar lead off; heavy drums and accordions come in to ground the lovely fiddles – “Lompa Drives a Tractor”

*2 – Fryd – 4:39 – definitely joyful, upbeat and playful

**3 – Ruf – 2:43-- rollicking and danceable with a turning waltz in the middle

*4 – Falsk Vals –3:58 – waltz with some bent notes; drum punches it up; simmers down at end

*5- Sumarkveld I Nivlheim –5:25 – crashing chords start off and then goes to quiet of “Summer Evening in Nivlheim” and picks up into rocking beat

**6 –Total Carnage - 3:59 – compelling tune in tribute to the Shetland Folk Festival; very fast with lots of percussive effects

*7 – Massa Ti Nassa – 3:37 – “Moss in the Nose” – almost jazz-like; fast with scat singing

8 –Fuggeln – 3:16 – “The Bird” - traditional –very fiddle-centric

*9 – Mysoxen –4:02 - “The Cozy Ox” – nice percussive and fiddle start; you can almost see and feel those oxen dancing

*10-- Bow in the Eye –5:58 – “occupational hazard,” ; more joy

**11—Sova – 5:28 – “Sleep” – very pretty violin line over viola
