DJ Aporia Reviewed 2016-11-02 | ||
Dream pop from San Francisco native Melina Duterte. Local and GREAT. Like Alex G, Infinity Girl, Wildhoney, early Mac DeMarco. Play any/all. FCC on 3 1. (3:13) *** Peach Boy—Peppy and twee with some nice riffs 2. (3:07) ** Ghost—Bit more whimsical with acoustic guitars and strong drumming, reminds me of Speedy Ortiz 3. (3:38) Next to Me— FCC “fuck”. Lo-fi garagey riffing, drowned-out vox 4. (2:52) *** Drown—Lo-fi 90s acoustic Alex G kind of track and of course it’s great 5. (3:56) **** Our Red Door—Basically Alex G for the first few minutes, love the guitars here, gets all Wildhoney kind of shoegaze in the last minute 6. (4:05) *** Unlimited Touch—Dreamy slacker pop, chiming guitars, sick bassline 7. (4:41) *** Why I Say No—Lush guitars keep on building, this one has a really nice groove, I’m hearing Mac DeMarco 8. (4:02) ** SLOW—Fast, angsty, twee 9. (3:24) **** Turn Into—More somber and like Wildhoney, with guitars taken right out of the Mac DeMarco songbook |
