Solo fingerpicked acoustic guitar. Born and raised in Santa Rosa, now in LA, Ethan uses traditional bluegrass songs as his source material and improvises around them. The playing is graceful, pretty, and even-keeled. This splits the difference between, on the one hand, newgrass players like Sean Watkins and Dave Rawlings and, on the other, Tompkins Square guitarists like William Tyler (when he's on acoustic) and Ryley Walker (or, really, a lot of guitarists featured on the Imaginational Anthem compilations). Favorites: 2, 3. No words, no FCCs.
