South African singer in English, Xhosa and Lesotho, nice voice; heartfelt lyrics; echoes of American R&B/soul/hiphop/dub amidst the lush South African harmonies and spirituality
NO FCC's; I like all of the tracks; faves: 1, 2 , 6, 7, 8, 11
*1- 2:22 –brisk a capella singing complete with vocal percussion; great texture, rhythm, etc
*2-- 4:12 --slower autobiographical ballad in English – “Grateful”
3—4:31-- verse and chorus – “Find a Way”, lush instrumentation
4—4:15 – nice trumpet intro – in Xhosa (?), with horn flourishes, call & response
5 – 4:21—reggae style beat – African language –call & response, goes to English and back
**6-4:38 – xylophone like sounds make a great contrast with vocal bass percussion and African lyrics; complex and satisfying
*7- 5:19 – nice solo followed by chorus
*8—4:08 – mellower – African singing with synth accompaniment & drumming; amazing oral clicks
9—5:05 --”Liquor Slave” – uncanny sounds at beginning; devolves into hiphop in Xhosa (?)
10—3:19 –a capella version of track #3, English and some African; exhortation on how to live
*11-4:08 – fun synth sounds with fast beat; great South African choral singing alternates with rap
12—4:04-- a capella chorus in African; rhythmic, hypnotic
13—3:58-- ballad in English, with synths and drums; segues to rap
