Psyche, mostly instrumental, slightly mathy, even surfy at times. Yonatan Gat is the guitarist from Monotonix, the Israeli trio. This is produced by Chris Woodhouse (Thee Oh Sees). The music is all of a piece, spacey and bleary and woozy. Weird samples here and there, and many sudden changes. Some of the songs are short; I recommend the long ones. No FCCs.
1. (5:07) ******* Fast, drummy, woozy, spacey. Occasional ambient noises from a ... PA system? Mumbly "singing" low in the mix, but just barreled over by the psychey main drive. So driving and great-- slow fade out.
2. (2:09) **** Bleary guitar, midtempo, woozy and raindroppy.
3. (1:53) **** Opens with what sounds like a field recording of a European guy with a guitar; he's occasionally drowned out by a wall of psyche. Interesting.
4. (1:28) Just guitar plinking, with a big outro. Not much of a song on its own.
5. (3:15) **** Hypnotic guitar layering with aggressive drums. Fast, heavy, sludgey.
6. (1:50) ****** Short, but sweet. Echoey bittersweet party, plinky '50s guitar with ... samples of Brazil. Stylish and bright.
7. (5:48) ***** Heavy, fat, driving, lithe and slightly proggy. Weird faded singing muddy in the mix, chanty back-and-forth, flamencoey, weird. Music drives right through the end.
8. (1:24) ** Light, airy guitarwork. Baroquey.
9. (3:23) **** Heavy "Wipeout" drums segue into spacey virtuosic guitar solo...
10. (0:58) * Short, moody.
11. (2:07) *** Echoey, moody. Tin can boat at sea. Drone, but two minutes.
