This is Toronto’s Grounders’ debut self-titled album. The band, which describes themselves as dreamy psychedelic pop music, delivers a likable set of tunes drenched in melancholy, peculiar cultural references, and dry humor. The band uses synthesizers, upbeat drum beats, and distorted echoing vocals in a similar way that MGMT does to construct their accessible sound.

RIYL: The Flaming lips, Wish, Neon Indian, 1980’s Sparks, and, MGMT.

Recommended Tracks: 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8

1. (3:29) Secret Friend – Mid-tempo popper with whispery vocals.
2. (3:39) Pull It Over Me – Another mid-tempo, synth-based tune. Nostalgic melody. Pop radio everywhere.
3. (3:27) *Bloor Street and Pressure – 21st century synth-pop tune with indie rock tendencies. Playful.
4. (5:11) Face Blind – Mid-tempo melodramatic number with minimalist keyboard and guitar parts.
5. (3:31) *Vyvanse – Inspired by 1970’s AM radio. Holds together well.
6. (3:47) **Drawing Space – Well-crafted, upbeat tune with nice guitar riff, memorable synth and pleasingly singing parts. Sparks would be proud.
7. (4:06) *Fool's Banquet – Another Sparks-inspired moment. Mid-tempo pop tune with intense dramatic vocal melody.
8. (4:55) **Pet Uno – Upbeat kraut-rock inspired piece with minimalist touches. Interesting ending.
9. (4:41) No Ringer – Ballad a la late 2000’s college radio indie rock with sweet results. Nice guitars.
