– General Description: Modern Jazz played by a Cuban trio. Ramón Valle plays fast and light on the piano. The melodies stay in your ear as you listen, keeping you grounded in each piece – which is lovely, especially for the more kinetic pieces. Bassist Omar Rodriguez Calvo and Ernesto Simpson on drums make for a slick team. All this music is a pleasure to hear. 1.****(3:48) All The Things You Are - uptempo; I like this one, it's very fun and jumpy (Jerome Kern) 2. (3:22) Steps In The Night - very uptempo reinvention of Coltrane's "Giant Steps" 3. (5:02) Es Una Historia - "It Is A Story"; moderate; more wispy as a piece (Stevie Wonder) 4. (3:32) Trance Dance In Blue - funky upbeat piece 5.****(5:36) Hallelujah - slower; almost sounds like Moon River at first, but no, it is Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) 6. (3:46) Principe Enano - "Little Prince"; sweet on the higher register, then slides down into a fast mambo, very abrupt ending 7. (4:15) Y Si Volviera - "And If I Were"; slow; piano solo starts 8. (5:40) Levitando - "Levitating"; fast-tempo with lots of rolling arpeggiations 9. (3:32) Cinco Hermanas - "Five Sisters"; syncopation under a seemingly familiar melody 10.
