Show Me Your Seven Secrets is the debut recording by Brooklyn’s Sunflower Bean. Their sound is a mixture of American and British early 1990’ dream-pop influences. There’s a lot of stimulating experimentation with guitar effects, distortion and feedback everywhere on the record. A pleasant surprise.
RIYL: The Kills, Temples, early B.R.M.C., The Wytches, and, Lush.
FCC CLEAN!
Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 3, and 5
1. (3:54) *Somebody Call A Doctor – 21st century shoegaze stomper. Hidden vocals in the mix. Semi instrumental. Dig the guitar riff.
2. (3:24) *2013 – Late 1980’s modern rock-inspired recording. Nice female vocals. Loud ending.
3. (5:22) *Tame Impala – Fuzzy psychedelic number with a fast beat. Vigorous male/female vocal exchange. Tracks slows at the end.
4. (3:25) Rock & Roll Heathen – Another fast-paced, heavily influenced psych rock tune. This one has an early B.R.M.C. feeling.
5. (3:49) **Ok Mr. Man – Jangly guitars, upbeat rhythm, killer female vocals. The most memorable track on the record.
6. (4:44) Bread – Slow tempo track that fastens into a fuzzy semi-instrumental then ends with a psych folk treatment.
