Sunbears are a four piece alt pop band from Jacksonville, Florida. This is definitely not the best album I listened to over the past couple weeks, but it has a couple solid tracks that are worth playing. RIYL: PTM, Local Natives, Flaming Lips, Spiritualized. FCC CLEAN!! Recommended Tracks: 2, 4, 7, 11 1. (1:04) Future Sounds - instrumental distortion 2. (3:47) He's A Lie! He's Not Real! - Up tempo full sound, synth and some drums, sounds like Ben Gibbard fronting the Flaming Lips. 3. (4:43) I'm Feelin' Low - Don't really like this one, pretty whiney, 4. (4:05) Don't Take Too Many Things - This reminds me of early Super Furry Animals. Lots of falsetto, cool instrumentation, theatrical. 5. (5:30) Overspiritualized - sounds like a Flaming Lips song. Lots of distortion, weird effect on instruments. 6. (2:02) How Do You Go Forward?? - Sounds like a record skipping...goes back and forth between left and right channels...cricket sound effects and messing around with the synthesizer with weird whispers in the background. 7. (3:55) Now You're Gone - The previous song blends into this one. Strummy guitar and synth. Catchy an somewhat mellow vocals. 8. (4:30) I Dreamed A Dream (That I Dreamt You) - This sounds kind of like MGMT. A little psych-rocky, distorted vocals. 9. (3:55) Laughing Girl! - This is a more accessible rock song. Solid melody, nothing super fancy with the instrumentation. Simple and catchy lyrics. 10. (2:31) A Sad Case Of Hypersomnia - Vocals and acoustic guitar only...with some whistling and strings later. 11. (4:39) Love (Breaks All Sadness) - These guys really love the flaming lips. I actually quite enjoy this last song. Pretty, but nothing earth shattering. |
