A Shoreline Dream/The Silent Sunrise

Shoegaze/psychedelic rock from my hometown of Denver, Colorado. I call it shoegaze because the sound is so dense, but the guitars are more psychedelic. Distorted male vocals are part of a lush soundscape. Sometimes acoustic guitar gets thrown in the mix. Expect a riff to be repeated over and over as the soundscape gradually shifts beneath it. You need to be patient, zoned out, or high to really like this. I listened to it late at night when I was zoned out, so I give it a thumbs up.

It’s difficult to say something unique about each individual song when they all have the same vibe, but I did my best.

Recommended: 1, 7, 8

1) “The Heart Never Recovered” (4:14): I like how the song starts immediately—no need for an intro. One of the catchier tracks, as “catchy” goes on this album.
2) “The Silent Sunrise” (4:53): Instrumental. Long, slow fade—I would start another song when 20-30 seconds are left.
3) “King of Your Castles” (5:13): Lots of voice distortion here: a voice layered on top of itself. Almost ten seconds of silence at the end.
4) “Between” (2:39): Acoustic guitars, drony undertones. Instrumental. Ends fifteen seconds early.
5) “Twice Removed” (6:05): The guitar is a little friendlier here. Start the next song with 30 seconds to go.
6) “Break It Again” (4:50): Vocals are more passionate. Start next song with 15 seconds to go.
7) “Seasons” (4:30): Acoustic guitar on top of an increasingly loud, chaotic soundscape. Thirty seconds of near silence at the end—just footsteps, distorted nature sounds.
8) “As the Cold Moves In” (5:55): I like what the guitar and drums are doing here. Twenty seconds of nothing at end.
9) “Sunday Afternoon” (5:28): Instrumental. About forty seconds of very little sound at the end.
